Barcelona As A Business Location

Barcelona is one of the best places to locate a tech-oriented business for a number of reasons.

Young people love to live in Barcelona. It's got great restaurants, and exciting night-life. It has an international population. It's located on the coast near incredible beaches and it's only a couple of hours from the mountains. It has an amazing climate and weather. The city and its surroundings have efficient and extensive public transportation. Housing is affordable when compared to many places in Europe and there is a lot of local talent given the reputable universities churning out talented, qualified and ambitious young professionals.

It seems like I can't tell anyone I live in Barcelona without eliciting some sort of comment about what a great city it is and how lucky I am. Locating in Barcelona is a no-brainer!

A quick search on Google revealed that 2006 was the ninth consecutive year that European executives surveyed considered Barcelona to be the European city offering the best quality of life for workers.

I totally agree with you Mike. Additionally I would like to point out that according with Dopplr Barcelona is the 4th European city with more travellers coming in! Just behind London, Paris and Berlin. ;-). Taking into account that most of the Dopplr users are professionals related to the IT and web industry it is a great indicator that gives support to your thesis
